Learn how to swing a club as a beginner
Most beginners to the game of
golf will do well to know that a good amount of practice, at least for years, is important for the player to get a hang of this game, as playing this game well means all your motions from the backswing to hitting the ball has to be carried out with absolute finesse and poise.
Some easy ways for you to get the backswing correct
The backswing really is the first step for anyone to start playing a game of golf. This is the set of motion which sets of all other events to follow, and thus it is important you get your backswing right, else the resultant activities will also suffer.

Things you should know to start the backswing
It is important for you first to get into position. Once you are in position, start making slow movements with your arms, which should set you off on a good backswinging exercise.
Starting your backswing too fast is never too helpful because in doing so you would see a reduction in the
power and accuracy, which results due to a steep swing plane. Ideally, being right handed, you should have the right shoulder slightly lower than your left shoulder, and once you are able to get into this position, you could go ahead with your backswing.
If you could point out one common bad habit in golfers especially when they start a backswing, it has to be that
most of them tend to do it with their arms and shoulders only, which results in them losing on quite a bit of power and accuracy. Enough practice is the best way for you to get rid of this habit, but you also need to focus then on how your body moves. Get your arms, shoulders, upper legs and hips to move in one fluid motion and you would be good to go.
Every golfer wants to hit the ball as clean and accurate as possible. However there’s a lot of people out there saying that a great golf swing can be bought, I’d say there dead wrong. If you want to read more, The Perfect Golf Swing
Completing the backswing – Here’s how
What people don’t know about golf is that when the backswing has to come through, the body moves slightly. This is not to mean that you must start dancing all over the place but one thing is for sure – If you can have a good positioning for your elbows and arms, you are guaranteed
good power on your shots.
At the top position, if everything is gone right until now, the battle to get the perfect golf swing you will realize has just begun. Here, the positioning of the wrists matter a lot because you dont want to
end up clutching the golf club too tightly. The club needs to be gripped firmly enough yet you must stay relaxed at all times.
With the club on top of your head, you may have thought of winning the battle already. But this is where you have to work slightly on the positioning of the body. Be sure to have your left shoulder above the right shoulder and the left knee bent towards the right. Once you have maintained this position, you could go all out on your downswing.
There are actually a lot of great books out there, that can help golfers at any level, however you have to implement what you learn. If you want to learn more, you can check out these articles, Swing Tips & Techniques

Let’s start with the legs. It is very important to keep your back knee bent throughout your entire backswing. Now shift the entire weight of your body on to your back foot. This action will most likely cause you front foot to raise off the ground. Raising your foot slightly above the ground level is an acceptable practice, if professional golfers are to be believed. This will come with a bit of a risk – If you end up lifting your foot too high there’s a good chance you’ll end up losing your balance. So keep that in mind. Your hips should be twisted little and your shoulders at an angle of around 90o, also your left shoulder should generally be under the chin. Keep you left arm straight and right arm folded.
A full, natural swing is something most golfers spend years trying to achieve. It really just comes down to your hard work and your technique. That being said, there are still “some” helpful products out there, check this article out, How to Make a Perfect Golf Swing
When you are the top of your backswing, you should feel that you have maximum strength and force in you. Your body should possess so much energy that it should send the ball to the desired distance when you hit it.
Practice is the only way you could improve your backswing and get it to the level of professional golfers. So, if you wish to have the best backswing, it is time for you to hit the ground hard and start practicing. If you want to try this, it’s very easy, you can practice in front of a big mirror wherever you are. Better still – Call your friend who knows how to play golf and ask him to correct your mistakes.
Bottom-line – To get the perfect backswing, you don’t need to do complicated things.
Remember it all comes down to practice, practice, practice.

If you have started your backswing, by the time you get to this step, you will find that the club is right above your head. Now, this is the time you pay attention to this fact – You should now look at swinging your club cleanly, and not your body. You will lose out on quite a bit of power and energy if you end up swinging your body and not the club. Surprisingly, quite a lot of people do this.

While moving ahead with the backswing, a lot of people tend to lift their left knee slightly above the ground level. Though a lot of professional golfers claim that this habit is acceptable, beware that it requires a lot of practice from you. Some times, you will find that lifting your left knee above the ground level may throw you off balance. Maintaining your balance intact is the best prescription for you to get the best shot, and thus, you should try and avoid lifting your left knee.
The lower part of the body below the waist, should be turned at 45 degree angle. Keep your shoulders at an angle of 90 degree. Position your left shoulder below your chin. Be sure your head is positioned at the centre over the ball. Make sure you keep your left arm straight through the whole backswing, while keeping your right arm tucked to your side.
Remember these are just simple basic guidelines to help you play better. You need not follow them all if you are not comfortable. Players have different styles of coaching, and while you practice, you may have one of your own too.
